| The client was a NYSE company in
the business of health benefits administration. It
had been eagerly awaiting the court decision involving
a competitor because the issue had a direct effect
on its major line of business. But when the decision
was unexpectedly adverse, the eagerness turned to anxiety.
Within a few days, Groom’s Litigation Group
produced a memorandum outlining a new judicial strategy. Attorneys
in the firm’s Health Care Group recommended revisions
in health plan documents that had been provided to
the client’s customers. Lawyers in the
Public and Multiemployer Plans Group communicated with
their clients about how to deal with the decision. And
attorneys from the Policy and Legislation Group put
together a coalition of similarly affected companies
and drafted a legislative paper to explain the problem
on Capitol Hill.
Pointing to action on every conceivable front, the
client demonstrated to its investors that the problem
was well in hand—and was able to continue its
business without material interruption. |
