Michael joined Groom because he wanted to do "cutting-edge benefits work for sophisticated clients in a collegial atmosphere."  "The depth of knowledge and experience at Groom is simply unparalleled, and I could not imagine a better environment in which to help clients solve their most complex legal issues."

As a member of the Fiduciary Responsibility group, Michael's practice focuses largely on the fiduciary duty and prohibited transaction rules under Title I of ERISA and the state laws applicable to public plans.  Additionally, Michael frequently works with clients to establish and maintain various tax-exempt organizations. He is actively involved in the American Bar Association, Section of Taxation and is a regular volunteer for the Volunteer Income Tax Assistance Program.

Prior to joining Groom, Michael served as an intern for a Fortune 500 national bank, an extern for the Department of Labor, and an intern at the Council of Better Business Bureaus.  He also spent two years working at the Expo Institute in Daejeon, South Korea. 

Michael holds a J.D., with honors, from The George Washington University Law School, and he received a Bachelor of Arts, with distinction, in History and Art History from the University of Colorado, where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa.

In his free time, Michael is an avid reader and traveler.

Michael is admitted to practice in the states of Pennsylvania and New Jersey and has applied for admission to practice in the District of Columbia.
