Susan has examined ERISA Title I issues from all sides – in private practice, in house, and at the United States Department of Labor.  "When you understand where the other parties are coming from, it is easier to find a solution that works for everyone," she says.

At Groom, Susan counsels fiduciaries, service providers and others with respect to fiduciary duties and other Title I matters.  “While I was at a D.C.-based trade association, I was a Groom client.  The people we worked with at Groom were so knowledgeable and provided such good service,” says Susan, “I was glad to have the chance to join them.”

Prior to joining Groom, Susan was Senior Pensions Counsel for the American Council of Life Insurers, and a Trial Attorney in the Plan Benefits Security Division, Office of the Solicitor, United States Department of Labor.  She was also in private practice in Washington, DC and Cincinnati, OH. 

Susan also previously taught business law as an assistant professor at Xavier University in Cincinnati and legal research and writing at the American University’s Washington College of Law.

Susan is admitted to practice in Ohio and the District of Columbia.
