After several years playing defense as a commercial litigator, Don Willis came to Groom Law Group to go to bat for clients and keep them out of litigation.  “I wanted to transition from a lawyer clients look to when they are being sued, to a lawyer clients count on to help them avoid litigation,” says Don.

Don’s recent work has included advising clients on COBRA notification procedures.  He has also fielded questions from clients regarding Medicare Secondary Payer issues and helped develop sound, cost-effective strategies for addressing those issues.

Don focuses on helping his clients meet not only their immediate goals but also their long-term strategic objectives.  “I believe a lawyer must truly know his or her client’s business to foresee potential legal and business problems.  Doing this allows a lawyer to see the client's big picture, which leads to the lawyer being looked upon as a team member instead of simply a hired advisor.”

Before entering law school, Don worked as a technology project leader at GE Medical Systems.  He graduated magna cum laude from Villanova University School of Law, where he was a managing editor on the Villanova Law Review and was elected to the Order of the Coif.

Don is admitted to practice in Virginia and the District of Columbia.
