An avid sports fan, Eric recognizes the importance of individual talent and drive combined with flawless teamwork and expert coaching in putting together a championship-caliber team. These elements he finds at the Groom Law Group- the best employee benefits law “team” in the country. Eric brings expertise derived from his work as in-house benefits attorney for an international telecommunications/IP company, where he gained first-hand knowledge of the many important political and financial concerns with which such companies struggle while addressing their legal issues.
Eric’s personal strength is as a problem solver. He enjoys unraveling the intricate puzzle that employee benefits and executive compensation law can be, and is both challenged and stimulated by the technical nature of his practice. He specializes in executive compensation and qualified retirement plans, and at Groom he works with the Title II (Tax) and Executive Compensation practice groups. Here he is at the vanguard: “The attorneys here are not merely ‘reactors’ to the law, but are frequently the ones driving the policy discussions on important benefits issues,” he notes appreciatively.
Eric understands that, unlike sports outfits, this organization’s work has serious implications for those of us in the real world. “Every decision potentially affects someone's family member, neighbor, or co-worker,” he says, “so I take that into consideration as I advise clients.” He takes this responsibility very seriously.
Having earned his LL.M., with distinction, from the Georgetown University Law Center, and his J.D. from the Washington College of Law at The American University, Eric brings winning ways to a winning team. He is admitted to practice in Virginia, Maryland, and the District of Columbia.
