Drawing on our substantive expertise and hands-on experience—one member of our group was benefits tax counsel at the Treasury Department and tax and pension counsel to the Senate Finance Committee, another was tax and pension counsel to the House Ways and Means Committee and another was the chief legislative liaison for the Department of Labor—we work on benefits-related policies and legislation with members of Congress and the Executive Branch on behalf of trade associations, plan sponsors, financial institutions, health care organizations, and other clients from the benefits community.

The lobbying of key Congressional members and staff on a host of legislative initiatives, including deferred compensation legislation, defined benefit funding changes and PBGC reforms, cash balance plan legislation, defined contribution plan reform, liability limits under the Patients’ Bill of Rights, health savings account legislation, and proposals to allow "association health plans."

Testifying before Congressional Committees regarding benefits-related issues, including cash balance plan and health savings account issues.

The drafting of Congressional testimony, letters to Congress and federal agencies, amendments, and other advocacy documents.

The creation of coalitions and strategies to advance favorable legislation and defeat potentially harmful bills..
