Vivian Hunter Turner

Vivian joined Groom Law Group after working as an in-house attorney for Blue Cross Blue Shield of Vermont.  "Working for a health insurance company gave me invaluable insight into product design, the complexity of claims administration and the role of underwriting. I was fortunate to have incredible on the job training about an industry that is competitive and complex."  Vivian began her practice as a corporate and securities attorney and applies her knowledge of corporations and the myriad issues of SEC compliance to the field of employee benefits and health insurance.  "Through my work as a health care attorney I can draw many parallels to the field of securities. In both industries you have to be cognizant of regulations and quickly adapt to a changing landscape to best serve your clients."

Vivian was drawn to health care because "I've always thought of myself as a news junkie.  I think following stories in the New York Times and CNN about health care reform and the debate over essential health care benefits and preventive care is fascinating.  I enjoy thinking of how these issues affect my clients and the types of questions that may be raised."

Outside of the office, Vivian loves to run and compete in marathons. "People think of a marathon as the event - running 26.2 miles - but the true marathon lies in the five months of training beforehand. The law is similar. In order to best serve your clients, you have to be dedicated, prepared and committed to your field on a daily basis.  And, just like marathons, it helps if you love what you are doing."
