Kara M. Soderstrom
A recent addition to Groom Law Group, and a recent graduate of Georgetown University Law Center, Kara Soderstrom is ready to take the legal world by storm. Deciding to practice law was an easy choice for Kara who has always thought that lawyers are the modern day version of superheroes. “Lawyers can accomplish just about anything, “she says, “and while it entails a responsibility to do what is right, it means that we have an extraordinary ability to help others and achieve those goals that we find personally satisfying.”
But even superheroes need to keep focus on what is important: the people they help. “Tailoring your responses to the needs of the client is essential,” says Kara. “Whether it be providing in-depth analysis of the question asked, raising concerns or questions that the client isn’t aware of or simply pointing them in the right direction, our job is to make sure that in the end the client gets their desired result.”
While Kara does admit that lawyers might not be as exciting as superheroes, being a lawyer is a powerful position. “When people say that knowledge is power, they are really referring to having knowledge of the law,” she says, “if this is true then lawyers, especially my peers at Groom, are some of the most powerful people in the world.”
