401(k) Plan Fee Disclosure Legislation
Congress and the Department of Labor (DOL) have focused their attention on additional disclosure of the fees that are being charged against 401(k) plans and the investments in these plans. Many Groom clients are service providers to 401(k) plans and Groom attorneys also represent the trade association for the mutual fund industry. Groom attorneys have been actively involved in the 401(k) fee legislation being considered by Congress. Examples of our relevant experience include:
- Assisting in developing a legislative strategy to address issues of concern to the plan service provider and the mutual fund industry.
- Preparing legal analysis of the fee disclosure regulations issued by the DOL.
- Providing information to Congressional staff on how potential legislation would impact the retirement saving plan industry.
- Meeting with members of Congress to discuss concerns regarding the proposed legislation.
