Stimulus Act Modifications to the Health Coverage Tax Credit

May 12, 2009

The Trade and Globalization Adjustment Assistance Act of 2009, which is part of the recently enacted American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009, included changes to the administration of the Health Coverage Tax Credit.  The most significant change was an increase in the amount of the credit to up to 80% of the cost of an eligible individual's health coverage premiums.  The changes also include changes to eligibility criteria and special rules applying to COBRA continuation coverage and divorce, as well as other changes.  Please see the attached article for more information.
