Jaylon Denkins rejoined Groom as an associate after having spent two consecutive summers with the firm as a Summer Associate. His practice is dedicated to counseling and advising plan sponsors and employers on the broad range of issues impacting retirement and health and welfare plans.

Jaylon applies a sensible approach to his practice in understanding the unique challenges clients face by putting himself in their shoes in order to truly identify their needs and pain points. From regulatory to legislative applications, he services single-employer plans of all sizes on the design, tax-qualification, administration, and legal compliance aspects of their compensation and benefit arrangements. For public plans, he serves as legal counsel to board members and trustees.

A testament to his persistence to affect positive change around him in whatever role he is in, prior to joining Groom and during his time spent at Southern University Law, Jaylon served an active role in his community by wearing several hats. While studying law, he was Associate Editor, as well as Executive Articles Editor, for the Journal of IP, Technology, and Law, while also being a member of the Student Bar Association. He also served as Director of Career and Professional Development of the National Black Law Student Association’s Southwest Region, was a student attorney, and was a fellow for the LexisNexis African Ancestry Network & LexisNexis Rule of Law Foundation where he conducted research responsible for developing technology to alleviate bias in jury selection.
