Elizabeth is an associate in Groom’s health practice group. She advises health insurers, health plans, and large plan sponsors on a variety of health law regulatory and compliance matters, including issues arising under ERISA, the Affordable Care Act, the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Equity Act, COBRA, and HIPAA.

Elizabeth brings broad-based experience with and insight into the health care industry and its unique challenges. Prior to joining Groom, she worked at a midsized full-service firm advising health care providers and businesses on regulatory, corporate, and compliance matters. Her work focused on federal and state fraud and abuse compliance (e.g. the Anti-Kickback Statute and Stark law); health privacy and security issues; and other operational and corporate compliance matters. She also worked on transactions, including mergers and acquisitions and joint ventures.

Before and during law school, Elizabeth was focused on the provision of health care services. While earning her J.D., Elizabeth clerked in the legal department of a large, multistate health system and in the Medicaid Fraud Control Unit of the Maryland Office of the Attorney General. Before law school, she worked as a data analyst at a medical practice. And, while in college, she interned at the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services’ Center for Program Integrity.

Elizabeth’s lifelong passion for and interest in the health industry and the provision of care stems from her parents’ dedicated medical careers.
