Communication & Transparency
Partially because we’re a small, specialized firm, and partially because that’s how we structured our business, firm management is present and highly approachable. Our leadership, even at the most senior levels, is always seeking feedback and input on how to improve our culture and working environment.
Despite the highly technical nature of our practice, Groom’s leadership also appreciates the importance of enjoying where you work, what you do, and who you work with. In addition to the formal benefits package we provide, we also work hard to make the workplace welcoming, engaging, and yes, even fun. Culture and collaboration are very important, and our leadership thinks about how to support and enrich working at Groom.
There are endless examples. We gather frequently for firm-hosted meals, and provide access to a complimentary beverage and snack bar around the clock. We have regular firmwide monthly meetings, as well as happy hours. There are staff appreciation events, including a Decennial Club for Groom employees with over ten years of service, as well as special events to mark holidays and other important occasions.
This goes for our physical layout, too. There’s a beautiful open balcony that overlooks the White House and the National Mall that is available to everyone. Our offices include a wellness room, a bike room, and even a flexible workspace that has an arcade machine, a television with lounge seating, a coffee bar, and a mini library.
Make it Your Career
Groom is unique in that it is a place where a number of people tend to spend many years, and some, their entire careers. We find this a tremendous compliment, and a testament to our success in making our firm a great place to work. In a place like Washington, D.C., where there are hundreds of law firms at which to work, people who come to Groom tend to stay at Groom. Maybe you would, too.

Training & Development
At Groom, you’re not here simply to do your job. You’re here to grow, and the firm actively supports that growth. We offer tuition reimbursement, including for professional development certifications, training, and more. We also provide a Learning Management System on-demand training platform to learn skills that apply to the job.
Staff members are an active, essential part of the committees that set firm policy and help shape much of our working environment. They are members of the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Advisory Board, the Wellness Committee, the Fun Committee, the Technology Committee, and the Pro Bono Committee.
Finally, at Groom, we fully support career flexibility. Team members aren’t locked into one career path, and we have had colleagues earn promotions within the firm. If it works for you, and the firm, we fully support changing your professional course.
