Theodore Van Beek is an associate in Groom’s litigation practice group. His practice includes day-to-day support of Groom’s litigation clients throughout the full scope of cases, particularly motions, case management, and addressing the issues that arise during the evolution and trajectory of legal disputes.

Prior to joining Groom, Theodore was a trial attorney at the Department of Justice’s Vaccine Litigation section. He handled a fast-moving docket of over 35 cases, and was responsible for every aspect of litigation, from intake to appellate review.

Theodore received his J.D. from the Washington University School of Law, where he was recognized with numerous honors and awards, including recognition for his moot court performance, the Dean’s List, and the Order of the Coif. He was also an editor for the Washington University Jurisprudence Review. Following law school, Theodore clerked for the Honorable Richard L. Young, of the United States District Court for the Southern District of Indiana. As Judge Young’s clerk, he wrote and edited over 40 dispositive opinions in a variety of civil and criminal cases, including motions to dismiss, for judgments on the pleadings and for summary judgment.
