David Powell is the co-planning chair of the ALI-CLE Conference, “Employee Benefit Plans of Tax-Exempt and Governmental Employers” held in Washington, D.C. This national conference will provide updates and advice on the most critical developments in benefit plans for this group.
The Employee Benefit Plans of Tax-Exempt and Governmental Employers program will offer solutions and strategies for navigating the impact of the latest legal changes to employer operations and plan provisions. This year’s faculty will be from the private sector, retirement plan administrators, and lobbying groups. Representatives from the U.S. Treasury, IRS, and Department of Labor will also offer and their distinct perspectives and insights.
Current topics to be addressed at the conference include:
- The 403(b) plan investment litigation
- Life without determination letters and other updates to the EPCRS program
- Church plan litigation and its implications, including a discussion of the Supreme Court’s decision in Advocate Health Care Network v. Stapleton
- Proposed regulations under §457(f) and re-proposed regulations on inclusion of income under §409A
