Groom principal Seth Perretta was quoted in the Wall Street Journal article “After Roe v. Wade Ruling, Employers Weigh In on Abortion and Benefits—Cautiously” which covered the decisions that employers with health plans covering abortion must now make, including whether and how to pay for employees to travel to a state where abortion is legal.

Wall Street Journal noted that Federal regulations for self-insured plans don’t spell out specific rules around abortion. A federal antidiscrimination statute requires all employers to provide health coverage to pay for an abortion if the life of the mother is at risk from the pregnancy, said Perretta, as quoted by the Wall Street Journal.
