Brandon Ford is an associate in Groom’s tax practice group. He advises retirement plan sponsors and administrators on responses to recent statutory and regulatory plan changes, particularly as they affect qualification status.

Prior to joining Groom, Brandon was an attorney in the Internal Revenue Service’s (“IRS”) Office of Chief Counsel. As part of the Qualified Plans branch of the office, he drafted, reviewed, and prepared private letter rulings, as well as participated in working groups providing guidance for all kinds of plans. His work included reviewing comment letters, forms and publications, assisting in litigation regarding complex or particularly nuanced issues, and in general, ensuring that the team spoke with a single voice on high-priority topics.

Before his tenure at the IRS, Brandon was in the Office of the General Counsel for the Federal Retirement Thrift Investment Board. As in-house counsel for the Federal government’s 401(k) plan equivalent, he researched and drafted memos, implemented changes in the applicable law, and handled benefit claims.
