Michael Kreps was quoted in the Tax Notes article “Retirement Reform May Get Second Look in Phase 2 Tax Bill” by Asha Glover on June 14, 2018.  The article discussed the possibility of a “phase two” tax bill later in the year involving retirement tax provisions. The bill would follow the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act signed into law on December 22, 2017.

“There is a chance that retirement provisions could be taken up this year,” said Kreps, but he added that it is often difficult for Congress to legislate close to an election.  “RESA has strong bipartisan backing, so in the event it does not pass this year, it is possible — if not likely — that the next Congress will pick it up regardless of which party is in control,” Kreps said.
