Gina Alsdorf is a senior counsel in the Fiduciary Practice. With more than 25 years of retirement industry experience, her practice focuses on the development and distribution of retirement plan services and products, including collective investment trusts and lifetime income products, as well as the broader regulatory landscape facing sponsors, recordkeepers, insurers, asset managers, and other financial institutions. Her experience includes working on complex issues involving ERISA, the fiduciary provisions, and prohibited transactions. She also has a strong interest in new technologies including blockchain and its potential for use in clearing transactions and automation.
Throughout her years of practice, Gina’s clients have included registered investment advisors, broker dealers, banks, insurance companies, third party administrators, and recordkeepers in the retirement plan and IRA space.
Gina started her career as an Investigator for the U.S. Department of Labor (DOL), Employee Benefits Security Administration (EBSA). Thereafter she held various in-house counsel roles advising senior executives for retirement and investment platform service providers. She has experience with regulators including at the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), DOL, Internal Revenue Service (IRS), and Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC), and before Insurance Commissioners. Drawing on her first-hand experience, she delivers strategic technical guidance, creative problem-solving, and practical business advice for her clients in this highly regulated environment.
Gina speaks and writes regularly on employee benefits, technology and related topics. Outside of work, she co-leads the DC Chapter of We Inspire Promote Network (formerly, the Women in Pension Network), and she crochets and is learning to weave.
